Dates of Employment: October 19, 2026 – June 4, 2027
Schedule: 2 days per week | 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM (30-minute unpaid break daily)
Days: Flexible — choose 2 non-consecutive weekdays that work best for your schedule*

As an Elementary Math Teacher’s Assistant at Brooklyn Arbor Elementary School, you’ll play a vital role in helping students across Grades K–5 strengthen their mathematical understanding, problem-solving skills, and confidence.

This role combines push-in classroom support with targeted small-group instruction, giving you the opportunity to support students within their regular Math classes as well as in more focused learning environments. You’ll work alongside classroom teachers to reinforce grade-level concepts, help students work through challenging material, and provide additional academic support based on student needs.

Because you’ll be supporting mathematics across the full K–5 grade range, strong Math proficiency is essential. You should be confident in your own mathematical knowledge and comfortable adjusting how you explain concepts for students at different developmental and skill levels, from building early foundational skills to supporting more advanced upper-elementary problem-solving.

What You’ll Do

As a Simply Ed Elementary Math Teacher’s Assistant, you will:

Provide push-in Math support across Grades K–5, working alongside classroom teachers during daily instruction.
Provide targeted small-group Math support based on student needs and instructional priorities.
Collaborate with classroom teachers to reinforce concepts and skills aligned with grade-level instruction.
Offer individualized academic support to students who need additional help understanding or applying mathematical concepts.
Reinforce age-appropriate Math skills, including number sense, operations, place value, fractions, measurement, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving.
Break down challenging concepts into clear, accessible steps and adjust explanations for different grade levels and learning needs.
Help students develop effective problem-solving strategies rather than simply providing answers.
Encourage students to explain their mathematical thinking and build greater confidence and independence.
Help manage classroom routines and foster a focused, supportive learning environment.
Monitor student progress and share observations with teachers and staff.
Assist with organizing materials and preparing instructional resources.
Attend required training sessions and staff meetings.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking individuals who are:

Passionate about helping elementary school students build strong foundations in mathematics.
Highly proficient in elementary mathematics and confident supporting Math instruction across the full K–5 grade range.
Able to explain mathematical concepts clearly, accurately, and in developmentally appropriate ways.
Comfortable adapting between early elementary foundational Math and more complex upper-elementary concepts.
Comfortable providing both push-in classroom and small-group academic support.
Able to identify when students are struggling with a concept and adjust their approach to help build understanding.
Reliable, professional, and able to maintain a consistent two-day weekly schedule.
Strong communicators and collaborative team players.
Experienced working with children (formally or informally) — school experience preferred, but training is provided.
Currently pursuing or holding a bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field.
Able to adapt to different learning environments and student needs.
Cleared (or eligible for clearance) through NYC DOE PETS background check and fingerprinting.
Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
