Schedule: Monday–Friday | 10:00 AM – 3:30 PM (30-minute unpaid break daily)

As a Middle School Math & Algebra Teacher’s Assistant at New Pathways Academy, you’ll play a vital role in supporting students as they strengthen their mathematical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and confidence across Grades 6–8.
This role primarily focuses on Grade 8 mathematics and Algebra, with additional push-in support in Grades 6 and 7 throughout the school day. You’ll partner with classroom teachers to provide targeted academic support during math instruction, helping students engage with challenging concepts and develop the foundational skills they need for continued success in mathematics. During the final portion of the day, you’ll transition into homework support, helping students reinforce what they are learning across their classes.

What You’ll Do
As a Simply Ed Middle School Math & Algebra Teacher’s Assistant, you will:
- Provide push-in classroom support during Grade 8 math instruction, with a primary focus on Algebra and grade-level mathematical concepts
- Provide additional push-in math support in Grades 6 and 7 as scheduled throughout the school day.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to provide targeted academic support that aligns with daily instruction.
- Offer one-on-one and small group academic support to students.
- Reinforce algebraic reasoning, mathematical vocabulary, problem-solving strategies, and foundational skills.
- Help students build confidence while applying mathematical concepts to classwork and assessments.
- Provide homework help from 2:15 PM–3:30 PM, supporting students as they complete assignments and work through challenging material.
- Help manage classroom routines and foster a focused, supportive learning environment.
- Monitor student progress and share observations with teachers and staff.
- Assist with organizing materials and preparing instructional resources.
- Attend required training sessions and staff meetings.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking individuals who are:
- Passionate about supporting middle school students' academic growth in mathematics.
- Proficient in Grade 8 mathematics and Algebra and comfortable explaining concepts in ways that middle school students can understand.
- Comfortable providing math support across Grades 6–8 and adjusting to different grade levels throughout the day.
- Reliable, professional, and committed to showing up every day.
- Strong communicators and collaborative team players.
- Experienced with adolescents (formally or informally) — school experience preferred, but training is provided.
- Currently pursuing or holding a bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Able to adapt to different learning environments and student needs.
- Cleared (or eligible for clearance) through NYC DOE PETS background check and fingerprinting.
- Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
