As a High School ELA Regents Teacher’s Assistant at the International School for Liberal Arts, you’ll play a vital role in preparing students — including ESL learners — for Regents success. You’ll provide classroom push-in support across multiple English classrooms while also working closely with 14 specific ESL students using a Regents-focused study package designed to strengthen skills and build confidence ahead of the January exam.

What You'll Do

As a Simply Ed High School ELA Regents Teacher’s Assistant, you will:

  • Support high school ELA teachers with Regents-focused classroom activities.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group academic support, with special focus on ESL students.
  • Use the Regents study package to deliver targeted practice and review.
  • Help manage classroom routines and foster an inclusive, safe learning environment.
  • Monitor student progress and provide updates to classroom teachers.
  • Assist with grading, organizing resources, and preparing Regents study materials.
  • Collaborate with educators and staff to align student support with classroom instruction.
  • Attend training sessions and staff meetings as required.
     

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking individuals who are:

  • Passionate about helping high school students succeed in English and on Regents exams.
  • Reliable, professional, and committed to showing up every day.
  • Strong communicators and collaborative team players.
  • Experienced with tutoring or supporting high school students (experience with ESL learners is a plus).
  • Currently pursuing or holding a bachelor’s degree in Education, English, or a related field.
  • Able to adapt to different learning environments and student needs.
  • Cleared (or eligible for clearance) through DOE PETS background check and fingerprinting.
  • Fluent in English; Spanish or other additional languages are a plus.
