As a Middle School ELA Teacher’s Assistant at Ebbets Field Middle School, you’ll play a vital role in supporting students as they strengthen the reading, writing, comprehension, and critical thinking skills they need for success across Grades 6–8.
This role combines push-in classroom support with small-group ELA remediation, giving you the opportunity to support students both within their regular ELA classes and through more targeted instruction. You’ll partner with classroom teachers to provide additional academic support to students who need help strengthening foundational ELA skills, reinforcing classroom learning, and building greater confidence as readers and writers.

What You’ll Do
As a Simply Ed Middle School ELA Teacher’s Assistant, you will:
- Provide push-in classroom support during ELA instruction across Grades 6–8.
- Lead and support small-group ELA remediation for students who need additional academic reinforcement.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to provide targeted support that aligns with daily instruction and identified student needs.
- Offer one-on-one and small-group academic support to students.
- Reinforce reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary development, grammar, and critical thinking skills.
- Help students work through challenging texts and assignments while developing strategies they can apply more independently.
- Help students build confidence while applying ELA skills to classwork, discussions, and written assignments.
- Help manage classroom routines and foster a focused, supportive learning environment.
- Monitor student progress and share observations with teachers and staff.
- Assist with organizing materials and preparing instructional resources.
- Attend required training sessions and staff meetings.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking individuals who are:
- Passionate about supporting middle school students' academic growth in English Language Arts.
- Comfortable supporting reading, writing, vocabulary, and comprehension across Grades 6–8.
- Able to provide targeted academic support to students who may need additional reinforcement or remediation in ELA.
- Comfortable working in both push-in classroom and small group settings.
- Reliable, professional, and committed to showing up every day.
- Strong communicators and collaborative team players.
- Experienced with adolescents (formally or informally) — school experience preferred, but training is provided.
- Currently pursuing or holding a bachelor's degree in Education, English, or a related field.
- Able to adapt to different learning environments and student needs.
- Cleared (or eligible for clearance) through NYC DOE PETS background check and fingerprinting.
- Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
